About

Brother James
(Pastor)

James Ballott II, is the pastor of The Tribes of Yah Ministries, a gospel music creator, and an entrepreneur with a vision for faith-centered community building. Born in Los Angeles, California in the mid-1980s, James was raised in the church. His grandfather Cleveland Ballott sr. served as the head pastor of Christian Light Church of God In Christ for 25 years in Compton Ca., and his grandmother faithfully supported ministry leadership — shaping an environment where the influence of the Holy Spirit was always present. At seven years old, his grandmother prophesied to him that he was chosen to serve God.More than two decades later, James fully surrendered to that calling while incarcerated. During that season, he came to true repentance and transformation, discovering his purpose: to lead people back to Yah through belief in the Master Yahusha — calling believers to return to the commandments of Elohym, teaching truth, and guiding others to restoration.Today, led by the Spirit, James serves through The Tribes of Yah Ministries with a vision to build faith-based communities grounded in the gospel and modeled after the unity seen in Acts chapter 4. Recently led to Tulsa, Oklahoma, he is focused on gathering YAH'S people, building places where believers live Set-apart, grow together in reverence, worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth while faithfully preparing for the return of Yahusha Ha Mashiach.

ELDER GREG

My name is Gregory Thurman. I am 56 years old, originally from Dunn, North Carolina, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, where I was stationed in Hampton Roads, Virginia.I have been with The Tribes of Yah for about two years now. Having been raised in the Pentecostal church, I knew in my spirit throughout my adult life that there was more to the Word of the Most High than what was being taught in modern Christian churches. I prayed for His truth, and in 2016, He pulled me out of the Sunday church after showing me that Sunday was not the Sabbath.Through years of prayer, fasting, and studying the Word—including the hidden books of the Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls—He revealed the most important truth: the true name of the Father, YAH, and our Master, YAHUSHA.After seeking various assemblies, I was led to Brother James Ballot and The Tribes of Yah around 2024. Under Pastor James’s leadership, I know I am receiving the true Word. I have grown closer to our Heavenly Father through teachings guided by the Holy Spirit. If you are looking for the truth, pray, seek the Most High, and test the spirits. I guarantee The Tribes of Yah is the real deal. Come fellowship and worship with us—all of YAH’S creation is welcome. AMEN."

Testimonies

BROTHER CORRON

Shalom, my brothers and sisters around the world. My name is Corron Martin from Toledo, Ohio. I’m 44 years old, and I have a testimony on how I found Yahusha. It started about six or seven years ago. At the time, I was staying with a friend because I had just lost my place. Two years after that, I lost my mom and my grandma—that hurts me to this day.One day, I was on YouTube and bumped into an Israelite camp. I listened to them preaching the word, but I wanted to see if what they were saying was actually in the Bible. I asked the girl I was staying with if she had a Bible, and she said her father did. I started matching up what they were saying to the scriptures, like wearing fringes and women covering their heads.I went and bought some fringes, but then I got on YouTube again and saw Brother James. He was congregating about Yahusha’s love. In the camps, it felt more like hate. By this time, I was in my Bible heavy, so I prayed and asked Yah if Brother James was who Yahusha wanted me to congregate with.I like to close my Bible, pray, and then open it to a random page. When I did that, it opened straight to Jeremiah 3:12-15. I said, 'Wow, HalleluYah!' That is how I found Yah and Brother James, and I’ve been congregating with him ever since. AMEN

Sister Vivica
(Sis Viv)

"Shalom, my name is Vivica. I am 26 years old and from Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a child, I attended my grandfather's Pentecostal church, but after my parents divorced, my environment became unstable and I no longer attended regularly. Despite this, I always believed in Yahuah and His son, Yahusha. I still remember being six years old in my backyard, praising Him and thinking it was His birthday.Over the years, I moved through different ministries with my mother and experienced a great deal of hurt and pain. Yet, through it all—even in my disobedience—Yahuah sustained me. Between 2018 and 2019, He guided me to the truth of Deuteronomy 28, revealing my identity as a daughter of Zion and showing me His true name.In 2021, I underwent a deep spiritual trial where I faced persecution for Yahusha’s sake. I chose to trust Yahuah with all my heart rather than leaning on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). This led me to pray fervently for a community of true, set-apart believers. That prayer was answered one day at a Family Dollar. I was in line behind a woman who was short on funds; as I prepared to help her, Brother James stepped in and paid for both her items and mine. I noticed his shirt said 'The Tribes of Yah' and was filled with joy. He shared scripture and invited me to fellowship. We even sang Proverbs 3:5 together! Since then, I have grown closer to Yahuah through these teachings, led by the Ruach HaKodesh. I have seen the ripe fruit produced by The Tribes of Yah and have been truly edified."

Thayer's Greek Lexicon
STRONGS NT 328: ἀναζώννυμι
ἀναζώννυμι: to gird up; middle to gird up oneself or for oneself: ἀναζωσάμενοι τάς ὀσφύας, 1 Peter 1:13, i. e. prepared — a metaphor derived from the practice of the Orientals, who in order to be unimpeded in their movements were accustomed, when about to start on a journey or engage in any work, to bind their long and flowing garments closely around their bodies and fasten them with a leathern girdle; cf. περιζώννυμι. (the Sept. Judges 18:16; Proverbs 29:35 (); Dio Chrysostom or. 72, 2, edition, Emp., p. 729; Didymus, quoted in Athen. 4 (17), p. 139 d., others.)Topical Lexicon
Background and Imagery
In the clothing of the ancient Near East, lengthy tunics reached well below the knees. When vigorous movement was required—travel, work, conflict—a man would gather up the lower folds and tuck them under a sash or belt, freeing the legs for decisive action. This act, commonly referred to as “girding up the loins,” became an established metaphor for readiness, focus, and exertion. Strong’s Greek 328 captures that single, deliberate motion of gathering in slack material so that nothing hinders purposeful forward movement.
Biblical UsageThe verb appears once in the Greek New Testament—1 Peter 1:13. Addressing believers scattered throughout Asia Minor, the apostle urges: “Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be sober-minded and set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:13). The literal idiom is, “gird up the loins of your mind,” and Peter’s choice of this vivid picture bridges Israel’s Scripture-saturated past with the church’s present calling.Lines of Continuity from Old to New Testament• Exodus 12:11 narrates Israel’s Passover night: “...with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand,” a posture of readiness for immediate redemption.
• In 2 Kings 4:29 Elisha instructs Gehazi, “Gird up your loins... and go,” linking girding to urgent, delegated ministry.
• Jeremiah 1:17 records the Lord saying to the prophet, “But you, gird up your loins; arise, and speak to them,” welding courage to calling.
Peter’s exhortation stands in this long line of prophetic commission. The same God who once prepared Israel for deliverance now calls the church to live in the light of the completed redemption accomplished by Jesus Christ.Theological Themes1. Readiness for Grace-Revealed ObediencePeter anchors the command not in human initiative but in the “grace to be given” at Jesus’ return. The believer’s mental discipline is both response to past grace and anticipation of future grace.
2. Holiness Flowing from Hope
The verse sits at the head of a section that calls for holiness (1 Peter 1:14-16). Gathering the mind’s “loose ends” prevents distraction and fuels a life distinct from former ignorance.
3. Spiritual Warfare and Truth
Paul employs parallel imagery in Ephesians 6:14—“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.” Where Peter focuses on mental readiness, Paul emphasizes doctrinal integrity, yet both depict truth securing the inner person for battle.Historical and Cultural SettingFirst-century believers lived under social marginalization and sporadic persecution. The command to “gird up” the mind assured them that faithfulness was neither passive nor defensive. Christians were to think differently from the surrounding culture, anchoring identity not in civic status but in a coming revelation of glory.Practical Ministry Applications• Discipleship: Teach new believers to identify and “tie back” thought patterns that impede obedience—worry, bitterness, worldly ambitions.
• Preaching and Teaching: Use the image to describe how doctrine shapes action—right thinking precedes right living.
• Pastoral Care: In trials, counsel believers to tighten their mental focus on the hope of Christ’s appearing rather than the instability of circumstances.
• Missions: Challenge workers to travel light intellectually and spiritually, shedding entanglements that distract from gospel advance.
